Classes offered by CEC
q
Choosing
a Caregiver
The most important decision you can make regarding your pregnancy is where
and with whom you will give birth. Your choice of setting and caregiver will
determine the options available to you during and after birth. This class
discusses the range of birthing options in Japan as well as the practices of
specific caregivers and will help match your vision of birth with the
appropriate midwife/doctor in your area.
q Birthing Your Baby
This class focuses on preparation for labor and
birth although topics such as breastfeeding and the postpartum period are
covered as well. This two-day, weekend class is designed to be taken in the
3rd trimester of pregnancy, approximately two months before your due date.
q Birth Refresher Class
A labor class for parents who already have one or more children, but are
having their first in Japan. This class reviews the basics of labor stages
and coping techniques, but also introduces practices in Japan.
q Baby Basics for New Parents
Not sure how to change a diaper? Take a baby's
temperature? Calm a fussy baby? Unsure of how your new role may affect your
life? This class will help parents make the sometimes difficult transition to
parenthood by developing practical baby care and self-care skills.
q Aiiku Tour
CEC conducts a tour of Aiiku Hospital the last Friday of every month from
4:30 to 5:30 PM. There is no fee for the tour, and anyone interested is
welcome to join us. The tour starts on the third floor. Please call to
